Reading Eggs with a 3 Year-Old, Free Trial for You
I've reviewed Reading Eggs before, sharing our tremendous success getting started on the program with a 5 year-old. Well, these past three months, her 3 year-old sister has been watching intently and wanting to do the same thing.
I started the 3 year-old off in the "playroom" where she could play online, but also where she could (secretly) learn.
She started with the songs, as that's what first attracted her attention when Big Sis was working on Reading Eggs. I showed her how to maneuver the mouse to the few choices she had on screen and then she dove right in. After a few days of listening to the songs, which by the way not only help the kids learn new words, but help to commit those words to memory, she was ready to explore more. Again my daughter, watched intently as I showed her all the things she could interact with in the playroom - cooking, coloring, puzzles, dress up, matching, etc! I absolutely love having this special "playroom" online for her - I feel safe about letting her be on the computer by herself because there are no ads, nowhere she can get to accidentally, and best of all, the games are educational!
Chopping up food for a fruit salad and stew!
Still watching Big Sis and her doing the lessons, Little Sis wanted to try them, too. I was hesitant, not sure what Reading Eggs had in way of 3 year-old lessons, but I signed her up for an account and got started. Let me just tell you now, there's plenty for a 3 year-old to do! My daughter has been cruising through the lessons, and even making some favorites and repeating them along the way.
The lessons are right at her level and have totally brought forth an interest in reading. In just a week, Little Sis recognizes letters, their sounds, and can read several sight words. I am extremely impressed with Reading Eggs and intend to go as far as I can with this program. I can't wait to try out their Math Seeds program next!
